THE PHILIPPINES – AUGUST 2011 – The CamSur Watersports Complex (CWC) and nearby Naga City are getting ready for the 22nd Philippine Advertising Congress, the largest event for the ad and marketing industry. AdCongress22 will be held on November 16 to 19, 2011.
The AdCongress22 organizing committees, the CamSur local government and Naga City government are working overtime to make the ad congress’s first time in the province a memorable one.
In a recent meeting with this year’s ad congress committee chairs, CamSur Governor LRay Villafuerte revealed the ongoing developments in the CWC’s facilities and accommodations chiefly for AdCongress22.
“We’re building 80 more rooms in the CWC,” he said. “A lot of rooms are being refurbished. We’re making sure that the infrastructure is at par with the participants. We’re building the convention center already and the exhibition hall.”
Eighty wood cabins that comfortably house a minimum of two guests are being added to the existing cluster of Villa del Rey cabins at the CWC. These extra rooms will have complete amenities as with all Villa del Rey accommodations, and are being built to offer about 200 more ad congress participants proximity to the convention center grounds.
Many Naga City hotels are also conveniently located near the CWC. The city center, where most hotels are concentrated, is only 15 minutes away. An exclusive AdCongress22 shuttle service will transport delegates staying in Naga City hotels to and from the CWC.
A number of Naga’s best hotels like Villa Caceres, the CBD Plaza Hotel and Naga Land Hotel have many rooms still open to parties of delegates. AdCongress22 administration committee chair Blen Fernando, who did rounds in CamSur for logistics, observed that these hotels were among some of the accommodations that stood out for her.
“Villa Caceres is a good hotel – I’m surprised it hasn’t been fully booked by now,” she said. “The CBD is very well-located inside the Naga circle while Naga Land is actually a nice boutique hotel.”
The strategic location of the CWC in the city makes it easily accessible by private vehicle or public transport, but because shuttle service will make rounds for AdCongress22 delegates, it should be easy enough to reach the venue.
Aside from checking on the readiness of the accommodations, CamSur is also busy organizing tour packages to show off its most special sites – like the Basilica of Our Lady of Peñafrancia or the Caramoan Island where Survivor France was filmed – to the delegates.
More police presence will also be felt especially in Naga City in November. “Not because the area is unstable but because of the sheer number of participants,” Gov. Villafuerte says.
At the end of each congress day, look forward to hitting the sack in comfort at CWC and in Naga City. Good times, fellowship and game-changing ideas await delegates this November at AdCongress22.
