THE PHILIPPINES, AUGUST 2011 – After months of review, Globe Telecom is set to announce the winner of its media agency pitch for consumer communications.
The bread-and-butter account of Universal McCann (UM) for 15 years, Globe is being courted by GroupM agency Mindshare and ZenithOptimedia, led by former UM boss Venus Navalta.
In late July, Mindshare released a full-page print ad with the headline "Globe-Mindshare. This is our time" as an initiative. Meckoy Quiogue, head of GroupM, recently told adobo that the print ad showed "how much [the network] wanted to work with Globe".
Commenting on why certain publications were unable to print the ad, Mindshare’s Sunitha Gopalakrishnan clarified that this was "because of lack of availability of space due to the short leadtime". The telco took issue with the use of the Globe logo, as it is corporate policy to secure prior approval for its use.
The announcement of the result, initially anticipated for August 3, is expected to be made anytime soon.
