Jason Schwartzman sells The New Yorker magazine iPad edition with hilarious web spot

GLOBAL, SEPTEMBER 3, 2010 – Roman Coppola’s two-minute "video tutorial" of The New Yorker iPad app starring Jason Schwartzman (Scott Pilgrim vs. the World, Shopgirl, The Darjeeling Limited) has been doing the rounds of the blogs and websites for the past few days. 

 
 

 
The actor, who appears as himself, starts his day with the iPad app and is shown balancing his other daily activities while showcasing his special talents including some unusual eye movements and accompanying himself on the piano. 
 
The app itself is free, however, the content is $4.99 per issue. The first issue is dated October 4, 2010; new ones will be released every Monday. Subscriptions to the iPad app are not yet available. Current New Yorker readers are unhappy about the cost of the iPad app. The print edition of the magazine is $5.99 at newsstands. The New Yorker magazine also offers a digital edition, a soft copy version of the printed magazine.
 
The New Yorker is publisher Conde Nast’s eighth title on the iPad, alongside the likes of Vanity Fair, Glamour, Wired and GQ, all of which are also available as iPhone apps. The Vanity Fair and GQ apps are priced at $4.99. The Glamour and Wired apps are offered for free.
