ASIA-PACIFIC – SYDNEY, AUSTRALIA, JANUARY 6, 2011 – After a highly competitive pitch, the Australia Bureau of Statistics (ABS) has appointed Leo Burnett Sydney to handle the 2011 Census.
Paul Lowe, head of the ABS Census Program, said, "The Census is the ABS’ largest and most important statistical collection, and the advertising campaign we will develop with Leo Burnett will be vital for its success.”

Conducted every five years, the Census of Population and Housing is the largest statistical operation undertaken by the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS). It aims to accurately measure the number of people in Australia on Census Night, their key characteristics, and the dwellings in which they live.
The next Census, Australia’s 16th, is planned for the night of August 9, 2011.
