London International Awards announces 2010 shortlists

GLOBAL, SEPTEMBER 28, 2010 – The London International Awards (LIA) 2010 completed its judging last week in Las Vegas and announced yesterday its 541 finalists in 11 categories.

Forty-one countries are represented in the shortlist. More than a third of the finalists are from the United States (116) and the United Kingdom (75). In Asia-Pacific, Australia leads with 41 finalists, followed by Japan with 24 and Thailand with 11. India (8), New Zealand (7), Philippines (5) and Singapore (4) also figure in the shortlist. China, Hong Kong and Indonesia have three finalists each; Malaysia, Taiwan and Vietnam, one apiece.

Of the five Philippine finalists, three are Ace Saatchi & Saatchi’s Vespa print ads. DM9 JaymeSyfu’s "Rollercoaster" for Mini Cooper is shortlisted in Poster, while TBWA\Santiago Mangada Puno’s "Touch – Small Table, Touch – Big Table" poster makes an appearance in the Design shortlist.

More than a third of the finalists (191) are in the TV/Cinema/Online Film Category. Print (76), Radio (70), Digital (56) and Design (48) round out the top five categories.
 
Jury presidents for this year are Pirate Toronto’s Terry O’ Reilly, Grey Group New York’s Josh Rabinowitz, AlmapBBDO Sao Paulo’s Marcello Serpa, Droga5 Australia’s David Nobay, AKQA’s Rei Inamoto, MJZ founder Rocky Morton, MDC Partners’ Faris Yakob and Williams Murray Hamm’s Garrick Hamm.

LIA, celebrating its 25th year, will hold its awards ceremony in London on November 8, 2010.
