GLOBAL, JANUARY 2011 – For the new year, Nike steps up its game with a new HTML 5 website. The Nike Better World website by Wieden + Kennedy Portland, shows images of how Nike helps, or plays its part in making a better world. The images feature shoes using eco-friendly material, peace campaigns through sport, and uplifting community projects. Users can jump to the different images by clicking on the bullet point side menu.
For an image-heavy website, the HTML5 helps ease the load and giving it that smooth, sleek touch. Fans of coding have criticized how the HTML5 is underutilized, as the code can also be used to showcase videos. For all the snazzy code, Nike still relied on Flash for the website video to play.
It seems that it is still early days for the site, but followers can register for updates.
While no stranger to controversy, Nike is still makes an impression, inspiring athletes worldwide after all these years.
