MANILA – For National Pancake Day, International House of Pancakes (IHOP) is giving away a free short stack of their original buttermilk pancakes – but there’s a catch. With the goal of raising $3.5 million for children battling critical illnesses, the multinational pancake house has launched this year’s Pancakes with a Purpose.
The campaign, going on its 12th year this 2017, encourages customers to make a donation to IHOP’s partner non-profit organizations, including Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals, The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, and Shriners Hospitals for Children.
Since the campaign’s launch in 2005, the restaurant has raised over $24 million.
“Year after year, we look forward to celebrating with our guests and fans, and are amazed by their generosity,” says IHOP restaurants president Darren Rebelez, “Every pancake served on IHOP National Pancake Day has a purpose, and every penny raised goes a long way in making a meaningful, and lasting, impact on so many kids and families in our communities.”
In promoting awareness for this year’s campaign, IHOP has signed an agreement with Kiwanis International, making the non-profit service provider its official volunteer partner.
IHOP restaurants throughout the United States, Mexico, Canada, and the Philippines are among the sites celebrating National Pancake Day. Canadian IHOP restaurants will benefit Children’s Miracle Network, chains in Mexico will be raising money for Asociación Mexicana de Ayuda a Niños con Cáncer (AMANC), and IHOP restaurants in the Philippines will be raising money for the The Kythe Foundation.
IHOP has been serving all things breakfast, any time of day, for 58 consecutive years. The restaurant offers a wide selection of meals under 600 calories, made-to-order breakfast items, and popular lunch and dinner options. About 1,700 IHOP restaurants span the world to date, with locations in United States, Puerto Rico and Guam as well as Canada, Mexico, Guatemala, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Qatar, The Philippines, and Panama.
Kiwanis International, founded in 1915 to help serve children worldwide, is a global organization of 702,000 adult and youth members in more than 79 countries.
