Colombo, Sri Lanka – Omnicom Media Group’s agency, PHD today announced that it will be opening its 12th office in Asia Pacific following its partnership with Total Media Direction (TMD), a leading advertising and communications group in Sri Lanka. The affiliation will see PHD partnering with Total Media Direction to provide media communications solutions in Sri Lanka. The new partnership, PHD Sri Lanka, will operate out of Colombo, Sri Lanka’s capital.

Commenting on the partnership, PHD’s Asia Pacific Chief Executive, Cheuk Chiang said: “When we speak to prospective global clients, they usually want to talk about our presence and resources in the emerging and frontier markets and Sri Lanka is amongst them. Finding good people is imperative to  our business and I am a firm believer that in order to service a client properly in these markets, media agencies need to have a solid foothold in the market themselves, as well as be an integral part of a global network.”

PHD Sri Lanka will be led by Shivanka De Zoysa as CEO of the local operations. Shivanka, a member of the Chartered Institute of Marketing (UK) started his career at Ceylon Tobacco Company (a subsidiary of the British American Tobacco Company) and has held senior management positions at Shaw Wallace and Hedges, Aitken Spence Group and Richard Peiris and Company. His experience transcends the FMCG, Consumer Durables and The Services industries both in Sri Lanka and other markets such as Fiji.
