PHILIPPINES, DECEMBER 2010 – ABS-CBN gets a fresh start for 2011 as gameshow Pilipinas Win na Win says goodbye to the airwaves on December 31, 2010. The show will give way to Showtime, ABS-CBN’s successful talent gameshow.

Pilipinas Win na Win replaced the widely successful Wowowee game show during the leave of its host, Willie Revillame. The leave led up to his resignation from the network and eventual move to TV5, where he launched Willing Willie, which resembles Wowowee to the extent that ABS-CBN filed a plagiarism case against Revillame.

Pilipinas Win na Win premiered in July, with Kris Aquino, Valerie Concepcion, Robin Padilla, and Mariel Rodriguez as hosts. Padilla and Rodriguez left the show to get married, while Kris Aquino was also asked to leave the show for undisclosed reasons in October, four months after its premiere. The hosts were replaced by the Hitmakers, made up of music legends Rico J. Puno, Reg Valera, Nonoy Zuniga, and Marco Sison. Low ratings and frequent host reshufflings have given way to rumors of its cancellation, which ABS-CBN remained mum about until last week’s announcement.
