Asia dents the western wall of submission as its entries, although sparse, gain place in the CLIO Awards 2010 Shortlist.
With 7 Asian countries present in the shortlist led by Singapore, Japan and Thailand, Asia seems to be doing well.
Japan has shortlisted entries in four categories: Content and Contact, Innovation and Interactive and TV/Cinema/Digital. Other countries such as the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, India and China are distributed across the other categories mainly Print, Poster and Billboard. Malaysia’s solo entry shares the category with Japan and India in Design.
Japan, Singapore and Thailand each have 8 entries shortlisted. Philippines and India both with 4 entries each; China with 2 entries and Malaysia with 1 entry.
Ogilvy & Mather under Japan, Thailand and Singapore offices leads the agencies with a share of 52% of all the shortlisted entries (18 out of 35 entries). The remaining 48% are shared by the other countries with Projector Tokyo and BBDO/Proximity Philippines with two entries each, followed by the rest of the agencies with one entry each.
The Philippines places its bets on BBDO/Proximity (in Print Single Entries and Campaign), DM9 JaymeSyfu (Poster Single Entry) and Ace Saatchi & Saatchi (Print Campaign).
With the presence of these 7 countries: Japan, India, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, China and Malaysia, Asia has something to look forward to on May 26 and 27, New York at the 51st CLIO Awards.
