GLOBAL, OCTOBER 14, 2010 – The Direct Marketing Association (DMA) presented its 2010 International ECHO Awards at the Moscone Convention Center last Tuesday, October 12.
Almost a hundred awards, including seven special awards, were presented to winners from more than 20 countries.
Asia produced three Gold ECHO Awards: BBDO/Guerrero Proximity Philippines’ "Lola Techie" for Bayan, OgilvyOne Worldwide Mumbai, India’s "Yacht Blueprint" for DHL Express, and Ogilvy Beijing, China’s "The Proposal" for the IBM Rational Software Conference.
OgilvyOne Worldwide, Malaysia won three metals for its IBM campaigns: Silvers for "IBM Personal Trainer" and "Redefining Loyalty", and Bronze for "Winning Chip".
BBDO Proximity Singapore also took home a Bronze ECHO for "Whale Shark Gamble" for the Sea Shepherd Conservation Society.
Spain took three special awards and 11 metals, five of them Gold. Spanish agency Shackleton was the night’s biggest winner with eight metals and a Diamond Award.
The Pacific also did well. New Zealand received two Bronzes and two Golds: for 99 Enterprise’s "Nothing to Hide" for Air New Zealand and RAPP New Zealand’s Gourmet Dog ‘Thank you notes’ for Heinz Wattie’s. Australia totalled 10 metals, including one Gold for Rapp Melbourne for the Parkinson’s Victoria "Skill Tester" campaign, in addition to the Echo Green Marketing Award to Wunderman Sydney for "Plant Spike" for WWF.
Other big winners were the United States with 15 metals, including three Golds; Denmark with seven metals, including two Golds; Germany with seven wins; and the United Kingdom with five wins.
