PHILIPPINES, NOVEMBER 22, 2010 – PLDT unit MediaQuest Holdings, Inc., announced today that it now has a 30% stake in the Unitel Group, which includes production houses Unitel Productions and Straight Shooters, as well as a a new technology group being formed Unitel CEO Tony Gloria.

Said to have the most number of television commercial production projects in the region through it own and co-production arrangements, Unitel has consistently pioneered the use of new technology that would enhance creative outputs. It was the first to bring innovations to commercial production locally, such as video assist, HD shoot to post technology, the Phantom Hi-speed camera and the Virtual Studio System, which were used to create the OBBs of TV5’s news programs and will be featured in episodes of the children’s show Batibot airing later this month.

“Unitel’s production experience in both television commercials and content work, plus its leadership in moving images production, strongly complements our growing requirements at MediaQuest group, specifically TV5,” said Atty. Ray C. Espinosa, president and Chief Executive of MediaQuest and TV5 said in a press release.

Espinosa remarked that alliance will allow TV5 access to an R&D and production arm through the new technology group. Gloria added that the partnership will provide Unitel with long-term projects  and more media outlets. Initial plans include the purchase of equipment not yet available locally and converting one of Unitel’s studios into a sound studio for TVCs and entertainment projects.
