PHILIPPINES, NOVEMBER 10, 2010 – The United Print Media Group (UPMG) has broadened the eligibility of entries to the Tinta Awards, the Philippine Press Awards 2010, honoring excellence in print advertising. As the awards are given out every two years, UPMG has decided to widen the scope of entries to print ads and executions first published from October 2008 to October 2010. The previous start date was June 2009.
Deadline for entries has been extended to November 16, 2010.
Categories include Automotive Vehicle/Service/Products, Beverages, Business Products and Services/Utilities, Corporate and Institutional Reputation or Image, Fashion Apparel/Luxury and Accessories, Financial Products and Services, Food Products, Home Furnishing/Appliances/Maintenance and Consumer Electronics, Media, Pharmaceuticals/Beauty Products/Cosmetics and Toiletries, Public Service/Charity/Fundraising, Retail Outlets/Fastfood Stores/Restaurants, and Sports/Entertainment/Travel and Leisure.
Craft/Technical Awards will be handed out for Best Copy, Art Direction, Illustration, Digital Imaging/Retouching, Photography and Typography. A special award for Most Innovative Print Media Execution, will be given to creative executions including false covers, inserts, special ink, among others.
The Student Print Awards are open to all college students. The brief is to promote the strength and relevance of print media to young readers. Single or Campaign entries from students must be endorsed by the university dean or accredited school representative.
An illustrious panel of judges will select the winning works. Among them are Tay Guan Hin, JWT South East Asia Regional Executive Creative Director; John Merrifield, TBWA Asia Pacific Singapore Creative-at-Large; Andrew Petch, Ace Saatchi & Saatchi Executive Creative Director; and Hermie De Leon, Omnicom Media Group, OMD Philippines and PHD Media Network President and CEO.
The awards night will be on November 25, 2010.
