Artist, writer, animator and all-around nice guy Arnold Arre shares with adobo his thoughts on what he’s looking forward to seeing for the adobo Design Awards Asia (aDAA) 2016. A juror who has been invited to past adobo Design Awards, Arre is the man behind graphic novels like “The Mythology Class”, “Trip to Tagaytay”, “Ang Mundo ni Andong Agimat” and animated work like “Milkyboy” and “Lakas ng Lahi”.
Now staged with the support of the D&AD, a globally prestigious award-giving body whose Yellow, White and Black Pencils are sought-after accolades, the aDAA now features more than 20 categories for students, professionals, and freelancers. This year, the open category features the theme “Designing for a Bold, New World” –which can tackle ideas or innovations to suit our changing world– the details of which can be found on adobodesignawards.com, along with the entry form.
Apart from Arre, other aDAA 2016 jurors include Jowee Alviar, Patrick Cabral, AJ Dimarucot, Dan Matutina, Benjamin Marasigan, Ric Gindap, Marcus Nada and Bernie Sim of Electrolychee, Leigh Reyes, Melvin Mangada, D&AD president Andy Sandoz honors the aDAA with his presence as jury president.
Stepping up on its seventh year, the deadline for the adobo Design Awards Asia is on February 27, and the awards night will be on April 8, 2016. The adobo Design Awards is presented by adobo magazine together with event partners Bench, Globe Telecom, Powermac Center, PWC, Greenbulb PR, Executive Decisions and Green Sun.
