SINGAPORE – November 8, 2013 – Grey Group Singapore has been shortlisted for two categories in the prestigious 2013 Effie MENA (Middle East and North Africa) Awards, the regional version of the globally renowned award for marketing excellence.
Grey Singapore was named finalist in two categories for its Tweet-a-Meet campaign for Qatar Airways, the agency announced in a press release. The only agency based in Singapore to have made the shortlist, Grey is competing amongst other well-known peers in the “Travel, Tourism and Transportation” and “Best Use of Social Media” categories.
“We are highly excited that Tweet-a-Meet has been shortlisted for the 2013 Effie MENA. Being the only Singapore agency to make the list is an honor and a clear affirmation of the talents we have in our local office. This nomination also validates Grey Singapore’s capability to conceptualize and execute impactful global campaigns that achieve results on various scales,” said Subbaraju Alluri, CEO of Grey Group Singapore.
Tweet-a-Meet, the first ever Twitter based contest ran by an airline, garnered participation from 165 countries, trending with close to 30,000 tweets a day on Twitter-sphere. Led by Justine Leong, Associate Account Director at Grey Group Singapore, the campaign ran from July 1 to 24, 2012 to wide media coverage.
Tweet-a-Meet has already bagged a Silver Trophy at the Singapore Effies 2013 in the Travel/Tourism/Destination category. It has also been nominated in three categories in the Singapore Institute of Advertising Hall of Fame Awards, where Grey is competing in a total of seven categories including Agency of the Year.
“What makes this shortlist more exciting is that we have earned it together with our long-term client Qatar Airways. The great relationship we shared with Qatar Airways, and their willingness to embark on new and innovative ideas, provide a winning combination for both agency and client,” Raju said.
The Effie MENA recognizes campaigns with proven marketing effectiveness based on measurable, transparent and sound campaign KPIs and encourage international best practices in marketing in the Middle East. The shortlist was released on November 3, and results are expected to be announced on November 20, 2013.
Grey Group Singapore recently won Creative Agency of the Year and a bronze award for KFC’s “Singapore Refuel Package” in SPH (Singapore Press Holdings) Ink Awards 2013.
